Eri-Weaves training concludes in Khweng (Ri-Bhoi District)

Two community members learn the art of Eri-Weaves at 55 & 65 years

‘Age is just a number’ is a common saying that we have all heard or have come across in today’s day and age. Fifty-five-year-old Wing Lamare and 65-year-old Elistra Lamare are two senior citizens of Madanrtiang community, Ri-Bhoi district who are popularly known to have devoted their entire lives to rearing silkworms from a very young age.

The pilgrimage of a few: Mawpynthymmai sets as model community

Mawpynthymmai: An hour away from the road, sitting at the foot of a hill, lays this small community of 23 households. In 2008, a group consisting of three families moved away from their original community to the hill which lies opposite to theirs to start a new community with new mindsets and new beliefs.

It is with deep sadness that we receive and share the news of the passing away of Mr. Lawrence Diengdoh, father of Mr. Pius Ranee, Executive Director of NESFAS, at Nongtraw, Meghalaya, on November 18, 2020. Bah Diengdoh, was a bamboo artisan and well-known beekeeper of Nongtraw.
